I have been trying unsuccessfully to export routes to a garmin compatible format. Is this feature currently broken? I have tried with Firefox 3, IE 7-8, and Opera and whenever I click on the link nothing happens.

    Thanks,

    Eric

I have the same problem.  I am able to download the map in gpx format but am unable to download the map in crs or tcx format.  Can anyone help please?

I am having the same problem.  I click on "save to garmin/crs", then a box appears at the bottom left, I click on "Exporting your Route", then click on "garmin course file (crs/tcx), then sometimes a box appears to the right asking, "save or run" and sometimes it doesn't.   When it does, if you click "run" you get some kind of computer language.  If you click save, a box comes up saying something like transferring files and goes on forever with nothing else happening.  If the box does not come up, I then click on "Download Course File" at the bottom of the left hand box and the page rearranges, but nothing seems to happen.

I know before (I have been using a Garmin Edge 705 for only a few weeks), somewhere a file name would pop up with the .crs extension and ask where you wanted to save it to.  You could then copy this and put it into the Garmin Training Center and load it on the 705.

I don't know what is going on now.  I have used the "contact us" on MapMyRide to find out.  Has anyone else tried to ask them?

I am also having the same problem - about a week ago (not long after I switched to Firefox 3) it stopped working in Firefox, but still worked in IE7.  Now it does not work in IE 7, FF3 on XP & OS 10.5, as well as Safari and Opera on OS 10.5. What gives?  THE reason I use this site is the ease of use in creating the routes and then exporting them; if this feature will not work, then the site is useless to me...

Just a quick update - when I just tried to Export to GPX in IE 7, it immediately came up to save.  I saved this file, and then tried exporting it to TCX again, and it worked.  I am not sure what is up, but I am glad this worked - I hope it was not a fluke though!

Since the upgrade, I've not been able to get the Save As dialog box as well. As others have stated, without the ability to save routes for use on my garming, the site is of little value.

I am also having problems saving my routes to Garmin course files since the website upgrade.  Does anyone have a solution?

This seems to be a problem on Firefox 3.  I was able to successfully download a course on a friend's machine that has Firefox 2.  This is not ideal, though.

Do course downloads work for anyone out there that uses Firefox 3?

I still don't know why it quit working and have heard nothing from MMR, but I have found a work around.

You can go here online:  http://www.gpsies.com/upload.do?uploadMode=convert

It will convert most anything.  I tried pasting the url from MMR in the box shown, but that didn't work.  I was able to do the following:

    1)  Go to Map My Ride

    2)  Click on "my rides"

    3)  Click on the ride you want to convert

    4)  Put cursor on Save at the top of the map, then click on "Save to GPX" on drop down menu

    5)  At the box on the left, click on Export as GPX

    6)  Another window opens an asks where to save

    7)  Save it where you want on your hard drive

    8)  Use the "Browse" Box on the gpsies.com converter to find the file you just saved

    9)  Where it says "convert to" choose "track" and Garmin Course CRS

    10)  Hit Convert button

    11)  When "File Download" box comes up choose "save"

    12)  You will have a .crs file now saved - copy it

    13)  Turn on and plug in the GPS with the usb cable to your computer

    14)  A box will come up.  Go to Garmin Courses folder and paste the copy there

It is much easier than it sounds and you don't have to go through the Garmin Training Center to do it.

Thanks for the workaround lotoarmy.  I was actually using the site for course building and GPSies does the trick better than MMR.

The suggested workaround using GPSies does not work for me - the files get an "xml" extension and renaming them does not help. My Edge 705 does not recognize the track or course (regardless of whether I try to convert it to tcx or crs).

What's up with this?? I can't get it to work either. I'm on FF 2, FF3, and IE7, none of them work. Simply trying to save a CRS file.

i was having probs (Mac 10.4.11 & Safari 3.0.4) as well but did this and it worked: 1 - click on 'Save To GPX' (it will generate a GPX file) 2 - THEN click on 'Save To Garmin/CRS' it will ask whether you want a CRS or TCX. i chose TCX as that is the only format i can get in my Edge 305 via GTC. it will then generate a TCX file. i import that into GTC and it transfers to my 305 from there. just tried it.. so far so good! there may be a programming bug where the website will only generate a Garmin TCX/CRS file AFTER someone has clicked on saving a GPX file. odd. . i hope this helps. . .

Tony, that's not working for me on Firefox or IE unfortunately.  Surely Garmin compatibility is one of the main attractions of this site, so I really hope they get it fixed very soon.

Not sure what "sink" means on a thread... but I'm very disappointed that no-one from MMR seems to even acknowledge that this is now broken.  What is the point of this if you cannot export to a tool containing as much market share as Garmin
