Hike Description
Relatively easy route once you get up to Beckhead...
The rest is mainly downhill all the way to the pub!

Set off 13:45. We followed the path passed St Olaf’s Church, through the farm yard onto Mosestrod path to the footbridge. Having crossed this we made the steep assent up the side of Great Gable to Beckhead. First on grass which eventually gave way to a small rocky scree section. Stpping at the summit cairn of Beckhead for photographs. From here we followed the metal fenceposts up Rib End, which we now know, run from one side to the other thanks to one of Andy Fellwalkers route descriptions(!), allowing you safe route on and off the mountain, regardless of conditions. We made the lower summit, stopping briefly, then crossed the top of the fell between the two tarns to the main summit (15:00). From here we again followed the fence posts, to the crag at the far side (out of interest do you know the real name for it?) we named it Gordons Crag after the walker who showed us off the mountain after we were lost up there last time. This was I think for both of us our favourite part of the walk. The first ledge being quite a drop and indeed the rest of the clamber down been quite awesome and exhilarating. From here as you know it descends into Blacksails Pass. We then turned left following the beck to the Mosedale Valley . Returning safely back to camp and a few well earned beers in the pub(18:10).
