This is a beautiful and consistent run comopletely along the D+R Canal Tow Path. Begin at the Alexander Road crossing; run .2 miles south, and then back to the start. Continue north on the tow path all the way to the Griggstown crossing (8.8 miles). Then return to the start. There are no easy water resources along the trail, but it is pretty easy to plant bottles at the various road crossings (ie Kingston) along the route. The north half of the route is almost completely shaded. The south half is shadier in the mid to late afternoon, strangely, because of how the trees stand along the canal. There is a stretch of about 1.5 miles along Lake Carnegie where you are actually on a skinny island, and there is no way off except the ends.
