- Parking is right off I-80 West 1/4 mile before exit 1 in NJ. Go to the second parking lot for easiest access. Follow White Blaze. Steady accent for most of the hike before you get to Backpacking Site 2 about 3 miles in. Terrain varies between nicely packed trails to very rough rocky footing farther on in the trail. At 3.75 miles you come to Sunfish Pond which is a lovely place to stop for a break and eat some food. There are nice rocks to sit on farther down the trail too. An Optional Way to get back can include taking the Dunfield Creek Trail back to the trail head. The trail meets the Appalachian Trail at Sunfish Pond and can be a bit swampy. But its a beautiful route back that jumps between the banks of Dunfield Creek as it rambles back towards the trail head.
