- Great hike, one of the best in the mid-atlantic region.

This is part of Shenandoah National Park. There is an entrance fee (approx $8 / person).

This starts with a very long uphill climb. It's about a 1500 foot elevation gain in the first 2 miles.

After that the fun starts with a rock scramble that continues for about 2 miles and is another 1000 or so feet of a climb. At the end of this section is the peak. It's a great place to break for lunch.

After the peak it's a long downhill on the back side of the mountain then a fire road back around to the parking lot.
