This is a walk from Chantily Parkway to Downtown Montgomery. The whole walk takes about 7-8 hours. The tracks are mostly not used, until you get downtown, but soon you will be able to take a trail through the Cypress Creek Watershed. Also, the biggest obstacle is the military base. I feel don't feel right about walking through it, but the neighborhoods in that area make for a phenominal stroll! Only 2 major streets are crossed, and 4 minor streets in neighborhoods. This is a beautiful and relaxing hike through the whole of Montgomery, AL. With shops, parks, historical sites, and parks all along the route. The first 5 or so miles follow the Old Federal Road! I feel this could easily be converted into a biking and pedestrian trails, with the majority of the funds for the project made through the recycling of the rail iron and wood ties. With volunteerism and communtiy support, automotive transportation would be an option in Montgomery, not a requirement
